Computerized Engine Preformance Diagnostics
Electrical Circuit Diagnostics and Pinpoint Testing
Not so long ago vehicle repair and maintenance was relatively straightforward. Today’s vehicles, however, have an ever-increasing amount of computerized and electronic controls. Some vehicles have as many as 100 computers on board! These computers control not only the engine and transmission, but also systems like tire pressure monitor, vehicle security, ABS braking, electronic suspension, and door lock systems to name a few. Understanding and diagnosing these systems takes specialized training and equipment.
We have been told that on average automotive diagnostic work comprises about 55% of modern shop activities. Because of this, free diagnostics is not realistic anymore.
At Scofield Automotive we are working to fine tune our diagnostic process to ensure that our diagnosing is accomplished as accurately and efficiently as possible so as not to waste our customers’ money. This includes having up-to-date equipment such as scan tools, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and much more. Up-to date information sources are also an important part of the picture. We subscribe to Identifix, an organized database of repair information from technicians across the country who have logged information for repairing common problems. We also subscribe to Mitchell ProDemand, a nationally trusted source for OEM repair specifications and information.
We are always working hard to continue our training to keep up with advancing automotive technology. We want to be ready to handle those tough diagnostic jobs when they come to us. We’re happy to tackle problems that have stumped others!
